  1. I can't believe it! 😁😃 After 822 podcasts, "Exorcist II" finally gets an FTM episode. 🥳🤠 It's not the Scary Movie Month commentary me and JB have been begging for for years, but I'll take any "Heretic" intelligent discussion l can get. 😇 Downloading episode now. 🙃🙂

    1. Ah, another man of culture! I watched this a couple years ago, perhaps with low expectations, and kind of loved it. There was some weirdness to it and it felt unhinged at times, but I think that just added to my enjoyment. I don't remember which version I watched.

  2. When we finished recording, the levels were perfect! But then SATAN had a hand in mucking things up because SATAN DOES NOT WANT YOU TO HEAR THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS FILM. "He is a liar; the demon is a liar. But he will mix lies with the truth in order to confuse us!" This podcast is CURSED!

    1. I heard JB's defense of "The Heretic" (which is basically Scott Bosco's) just fine despite his mic level being lower than Patrick's. 🤠👍

  3. You might not watch you tube and amanda peet isn't in it but there is a good canadian comedy show called small achievable goals. Part of it focuses on perimenopause related issues. The Mrs. and I were very entertained by it. She thought it was a good program that speaks to some of her present day situation. There are episodes available to watch on the CBC you tube account.

  4. Ok... I need to vent about Curry Barker. Obsession premiered in Paris at the end of April, with Barker in attendance. I was all in, ready to love the movie. And then he arrived, with his Matrix trenchcoat and his black sunglasses (inside a multiplex, at 8 PM). Either way, I really liked the movie (despite what I think are pretty substantial flaws). I've since watched his first one, Milk and Serial, on YouTube, a movie that screams "edgelord" (and makes you revisit certain scenes in Obsession with a different eye, and not to the film's benefit). And then there were all these excerpts of interviews and quotes, and... man, is that dude making it hard to root for him. Anyway, I'm beyond excited for Backrooms, which only comes out on June 17th here. The wait is excruciating! I've seen bits of interviews of Kane Parsons, and I have to say, I'm very impressed, he seems like a brilliant, focused, down to earth guy (I haven't seen any ego bullshit whatsoever), and I'm very happy for his success!

    1. I have such second-hand douche chills reading this story. It bums me out. FWIW I came away from Obsession loving Inde Navarette much more than I did Curry Barker. Just hoping she doesn't own a trenchcoat.

    2. Oh wait!! I knew I forgot something. Milk & Serial end credits: "From the mind of Curry Barker". (I wish I was kidding)

But absolutely, Inde Navarette is on another level in Obsession, I really hope whatever comes next for her is worthy of her talent.

  5. I was me that joked about the "fucking youtube" comment. I knew it was a joke, but it was funny to me, because that was my first reaction as well. Great discussion on the podcast about this.

I just want to add that it was my son, who hates horror, that encouraged ME to go see it. He had heard about it on some social media. Youtube seems a world away from "cinema", but I think there's a comparison to be made with how directors used to cut their teeth directing commercials or porn before being given the chance to make something closer to a movie.

And whatever gets people interested in movies, is a good thing. Back in the day, we used to get excited by the VHS covers in the movie rental store. They don't exist exist anymore, but if the modern kids are getting excited by youtube shorts, or other social media hype machines, it makes sense that creators will be attempting to embrace them.

  6. These days I look at Exorcist II as a glorified Italian Exorcist ripoff that managed to solicit cast members from the original film to be able to market itself towards the North American market. It certainly has the dream logic of one.
