    Buddy... Let's not forget the part where parents thought it was an actual Barney-type movie and were horrified by what they saw and obviously complained about it. The filmmakers replied to the chaos by saying something like 'reading is essential'

    If I might suggest a weekday weigh-in, what classic story should get a Muppets film adaptation next? I'm not much of a Christmas guy, so I'm not a big fan of The Muppet Christmas Carol, but, objectively speaking, it's hard to beat the definitive Christmas and pirate stories as sources.

    Maybe the labors of Hercules? Instead of doing a basic live-action remake of the Hercules animated flick, Disney could mix such a live-action remake with Muppets.

    Perhaps an original Sherlock Holmes mystery? Gonzo could make a great Watson to a human Holmes... Maybe a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Bram Stoker's Dracula (as in, the book story, not the Coppola version)?

      Love the Sherlock Holmes idea a lot. Get a human to play Holmes and make Kermit his Watson. Who should the human be?

      Not to Marvel things up too much, but I think Michael Fassbender could be an awesome Holmes, especially with some dyed-black hair. Maybe Tom Hiddleston, too.

    I really liked this version but have only seen it once. Due for a rewatch. I watched the Disney 1950 one a lot as a kid (and read the book more than once). The TV movie version from 1990 with Charlton Heston is great too!

    Anyone who is a fan of Brian Henson's work should listen to the commentary he did with Mike Flanagan for The Muppet Christmas Carol. It's available as an episode of the podcast "Directors Commentary with Mike Flanagan". He gets into a lot of the little technical details of how they pulled off the puppetry.

    Also, coincidentally, I was watching 30 rock a few days ago, and there was a scene where someone says (paraphrasing) "We're done/dead/finished" and passes a paper with a black dot on it. It happens so quick you'd barely notice and the paper isn't commented on. Nice little reference I hadn't noticed before.

    After hearing you guys pitch Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise in "Sweet Smell of Success," I realized both that noir classic and "The Cannonball Run" feature lead characters named J.J. played by guys named Burt.

    I felt everyone should know this, too.

    I rares comment on anything, but this was such a great episode, I lost someone recently and you both did such a great tribute to two totemic figures for me, so thank you.

    Also, Last of the Muppet-hicans? Kermit..."whatever occurs, however long it takes, I will find you"!
