Review: The Bling Ring (Adam Riske's Take)
by Adam Riske
The Bling Ring is a terrific movie and well worth seeking out. It has big ideas and something worthwhile to say about “the worst generation.” There is a lot of blame to go around – parents, dime-store philosophies, reality television, TMZ and other gossip rags, etc. The brilliance of The Bling Ring is that it’s done in a way that’s very funny and entertaining. It’s not at all heavy-handed. You’re in the thieves' shoes. You get the big party.

Riske Business: The Films of Sofia Coppola
The most enjoyable part of my 2013 movie-watching summer has been going back and catching up on old favorites. I’ve watched a bunch of Star Trek, all of the Fast and Furious movies and the Before Sunrise trilogy, but no revisit was more of a pleasure than the filmography of Sofia Coppola.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (March 15)
The first preview featured after the jump is Somebody Up There Likes Me, starring Parks and Rec's Nick Offerman. Why am I telling you this in my usually off-topic-yet-always-hilarious preamble? Because the official trailer, while serviceable (more on that below), is actually less interesting than the two YouTube "promos" featuring Offerman (and very special guests) acting the fool -- while high -- with irreverent, funny, new wave results. Take a look at them here and here. The second one's better, specifically the close-up of Alison Brie saying, "Pussy." Director Bob Byington's might be onto something.
