Heath Holland On...5 Reasons Transformers: The Movie Still Matters
by Heath Holland
It’s been thirty years since the ongoing war between the Autobots and the Decepticons first hit a movie screen and it still hasn’t been done better.

Sh!#ting on the Classics: Sh!#ty Movie Moments of 2011
Movie-wise, 2011 was a big bag of crap. What else is new? Few movies worked completely – especially those directed by Terrence Malick or starring Adam Sandler – and that made it easy to find atrocious moments to savor. Most of these films were bad, but these moments were EVEN WORSE!

Review: Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Here's a story about the Transformers movies before we talk about Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Imagine you ate at a McDonald's in 2007 and it gave you a terrible case of food poisoning. You held off for two years, but then decided against your better judgment to give it another shot in 2009. Food poisoning again. Now, here it is 2011, and your third trip to McDonald's doesn't result in food poisoning. Would you start telling everyone they should eat at McDonald's, just because this time you're not shitting yourself?

Take Two: Transformers
by Patrick Bromley
I didn't like Michael Bay's Transformers when I saw it on opening night back in 2007. I thought it was noisy and busy and silly and condescending, and that it turned what might have been a movie about giant robots from outer space engaged in an epic battle into a movie about giant robots from outer space hiding in the backyard. By the very next day, though, I was told how wrong I was by just about every person who had seen it. Everyone liked this movie -- at the time, anyway -- and the insane box office (and the fact that there have been two sequels) reflects that: the movie grossed over $700 million worldwide. The more people told me how much they enjoyed it, the more I got to thinking about how much I didn't enjoy it, and, as is my way, I dug my heels in even deeper and started to shit-talk the movie as much as possible. But now, with four years behind me and just a few days away from the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, I got to thinking maybe I was just being too hard on Transformers. Maybe I needed to see it again to appreciate the movie it is and not the one I was thinking it would be. Maybe it's more epic and exciting than I remember. Maybe, as summer blockbusters go, Transformers isn't half bad.
Nope. I was right. This fucking movie is horrible.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (Week of April 25)
It's been an exciting week here at F This Movie! Patrick unveiled a new feature titled, "Take Two," in which he reexamines movies to see if his feelings about them have changed over time, JB is providing day-by-day coverage of Ebertfest, Roger Ebert's annual film celebration in Champaign, Ill., and Doug? Well he's just shitting out the same old movie trailer roundup that he's been doing for weeks. Not a forward thinker, that guy.

Director Essentials: Michael Bay
by Patrick Bromley
F Heads! Today marks the first entry in our new Director Essentials series, in which we pick the essential movies in a single director's filmography. What better way to kick this feature off than with Michael Bay, who is the worst. Thanks to F Head Steve I. for the nomination. We call your bluff, sir.
If you've got a director you want to nominate for Director Essentials, nominate him or her (because women can do anything boys can do if they put their minds to it) on our Facebook page or in the comments below.
