Heath Holland On...5 Reasons Transformers: The Movie Still Matters
by Heath Holland
It’s been thirty years since the ongoing war between the Autobots and the Decepticons first hit a movie screen and it still hasn’t been done better.

12 Inevitable Movie Adaptations
by Doug Schultz
This week, it was revealed that Hasbro might be making a fucking live-action GoBots movie. "GREAT!" -nobody. Which means it's only a matter of time before other beloved(?) TV shows, toys and games from your childhood become major motion pictures. Here are my [sarcastic] suggestions.

Riske Business: G.I. Joe: Retaliation in a D-Box MFX Seat
I’ve wanted to write a column about D-Box MFX seats since I sat in one during a screening of Dredd last fall. I thought the experience was odd. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good. It definitely was not worth the upcharge (about the same as the price for an IMAX ticket) but it was INTERESTING and worth doing once. I could only remember generalizations from my viewing of Dredd so, before commenting on it, I wanted to wait for that perfect movie for my next D-Box MFX excursion. That movie was G.I. Joe: Retaliation -- something fun, visceral and disposable. At least I hoped it would be.

Take Two: Masters of the Universe
by Patrick Bromley
I must not have been the most discerning of 10-year olds, because at one point in my life I thought Masters of the Universe was a pretty ok movie. That's weird, because it's not as though I liked every movie I saw at age 10. 1987 was the same year I saw Spaceballs and didn't like it at all, and it was the one first-run movie my family saw that year. We were supposed to see Harry and the Hendersons (though I really wanted to see Predator), which I saw on video several months later and really didn't like either. That movie is still terrible and anyone who likes it shouldn't be trusted. I'm serious. What I'm saying is that I did have some sort of shit detector even at 10, and for some reason the He-Man movie didn't set it off.
