Zelig is a rarity among comedy films. Like its title character, the film offers a multiplicity of comic personas and ends as a deeply-layered critique of the media in general and the documentary film in specific.

Ahn Demand: Beginners and Night Watch
by Mark Ahn and Adam Thas
Completing the list of Adams I know, Adam Thas and I decided to watch a movie off of each other’s want-to-see list and then come back for a conversation recommending (or not) what we watched. For this installment, Adam watched Beginners (2010) for me, and I saw Night Watch (2004) for him. We felt…mixed about these.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (July 19)
Calvin and Hobbes is the best. It helped define my childhood, and I still I read it TO THIS DAY. I love it. I own every book (including those that are simply compilations of the "best" strips from other books) -- I even saved the very last comic (Dec. 31, 1995) from the Chicago Tribune (because I am a nerd). I'm not sure how I feel about this new documentary, Dear Mr. Watterson. Part of me is encouraged by the enthusiasm of like-minded fans. But, knowing Watterson's insane reclusiveness and vehement opposition to merchandising, I just know they'll find a way to F it up. Will it be a comprehensive look at the strip's history, pure fan service or ... what? No release date yet.

F This Movie! - Erich's Favorite Movies
The Favorite Movies series continues as Patrick is joined by Erich Asperschlager for a discussion of his favorites. The whole thing is pretty introspective and bittersweet and scored by '60s acoustic rock. It's just Erich's thing, man.

F These Movies About Movies
Movies about making movies aren't just about Hollywood wanking off. Sometimes they're about Hollywood congratulating its own ability to make fun of itself, which is another form of wanking off. Let us F.

Today's entry in the Director Essentals series is for the neurotic New York jew in all of us. The suggestion comes from DVD Verdict writer, F This Movie! contributor and Edgar Wright's roommate Erich Asperschlager, whose favorite Woody Allen movie is The Curse of the Jade Scorpion.
